Yeah, didn't think so.

Thanks for being a pro Grady. Thanks for sticking it out like you did. Good luck on the surgeries!

Surgery will end Sizemore's season
Tribe star to have procedure on left elbow, abdominal wall
By Anthony Castrovince / MLB.com

CLEVELAND -- Grady Sizemore's notoriously regimented pregame routine was thrown a bit askew Friday, when his 2009 season officially came to a close.

"He's walking around like a lost man," head athletic trainer Lonnie Soloff said. "He wasn't sure what time to get here."

But after plenty of speculation over the past couple of weeks, Sizemore knows where he's headed: The surgeon's table.

Twice, in fact.

It gets better! /sarcasm )

Btw, on a community note; I know I haven't been updating this lj (or any of my communities for that matter) a lot or at all. I'm dealing with personal things in real life so that's apparently taking priority over lj. Just so you know. Thanks.

Wedge: Sizemore not playing every day
Source

According to manager Eric Wedge, Grady Sizemore will not necessarily be an every-day player following his Tuesday return from the disabled list.

Wedge offered no specifics, saying only that Sizemore's status will be considered on a day-to-day basis and that he might be used as a DH after inter-league play is over. Sizemore is in the starting lineup batting second Tuesday night.

Indians activate Sizemore from DL
Club also recalls Sipp, options Crowe, designates Vizcaino
By Anthony Castrovince / MLB.com / Article

PITTSBURGH -- The Indians have lost six straight games going into Tuesday's series opener with the Pirates, but they have regained their All-Star center fielder.

Grady Sizemore was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday after resting and rehabbing his inflamed left elbow. It was a rare dose of good news for the Tribe, with another one hopefully on the way as Asdrubal Cabrera (sprained left shoulder joint) will likely be activated from the DL by the end of the week.

Center fielder Grady Sizemore was activated from the disabled list and is expected to start in center field tonight when the Indians open a three-game series against the Pirates at PNC Park. He's been on the DL since May 31 with an inflamed left elbow.

Sizemore to hit, throw this weekend
Evaluation could tell whether surgery is in future
By Matt O'Donnell / MLB.com / Article

CLEVELAND -- Grady Sizemore will take batting practice and throw from his position this weekend in Chicago.

If everything goes well, he could be ready to play in the near future. If not, Sizemore could undergo surgery on his inflamed left elbow.

"We're optimistic at this point," head athletic trainer Lonnie Soloff said. "But surgery remains an option should he fail. It's responded about as expected without activity."

Sizemore eager for return to lineup
MRI on elbow looks good but pain isn't totally gone
By Sheldon Ocker / Beacon Journal sports writer / Article

CLEVELAND: Grady Sizemore passed his test today, but he will not automatically be promoted to the next grade.

It's a little different when you have a lingering injury that improves only incrementally. Which relates to Sizemore's activities today that included an MRI scan on his left elbow.

"The MRI looked pretty good," manager Eric Wedge said. "There's still a little something there, but it's a lot better."

Sizemore nearing return to Tribe lineup

CLEVELAND (AP) — Grady Sizemore's ailing left elbow has improved enough to where the All-Star center fielder could be back in the Cleveland Indians' lineup in seven to 10 days.

Sizemore's MRI exam Monday revealed much of the inflammation that's hampered him since spring training subsided. Arthroscopic surgery was an option.

Sizemore will test the elbow with more swings and throws Tuesday, and he will be evaluated daily. No more MRI exams have been scheduled.

As long as it doesn't get any worse, Sizemore says he could play the rest of the season with the pain level he has now. The elbow affects his throwing more than hitting.

Sizemore is batting .223 with nine homers and 31 RBIs in 49 games this season.

Cleveland Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore says he feels good, hopes he doesn't need surgery
(Article)

CLEVELAND -- Indians center fielder Grady Sizemore said today that his left elbow felt good during a workout today at Progressive Field and he's hopeful that it will not require surgery.

Sizemore, who has been on the disabled list since May 31 because of inflammation in the elbow, had a MRI exam and a physician's exam earlier today.

"I was cleared to go throw and take swings today, so I guess it went well," Sizemore said of the exams.

From PD.com:
Center fielder Grady Sizemore (left elbow) will have an MRI Monday.
"Grady is about seven days into his shutdown period," said Soloff. "His elbow has responded favorably. He's made incremental gains in his range of motion." Based on the MRI and Sizemore's symptoms, Sizemore could start swinging a bat and throwing or undergo surgery. "Grady will tell us [if he needs surgery] based on his symptoms," said Soloff.
Soloff said if Sizemore was shut down for eight weeks, he'd probably feel better. He added, "but we're trying to lose two weeks to save six. ... It's hard to say if I'm optimistic. We're happy how it's responded in the last seven days."

Sizemore to get MRI on Monday

CLEVELAND (AP) — Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore is feeling better and will have an MRI on his strained left elbow on Monday. Sizemore was injured during spring training and played through pain until he was placed on the disabled list on May 31. He is batting .223 with nine homers and 31 RBIs in 49 games this season.

"Seven days into his shutdown, Grady's elbow has responded favorably and as expected," trainer Lonnie Soloff said before Cleveland's game against Kansas City on Wednesday night. "He has incrementally increased his range of motion."

Soloff said Monday's MRI exam and what Sizemore says about the amount of pain he's experiencing will determine whether the three-time Gold Glove winner will have surgery.

Arthroscopic procedure could sideline slugger two months

By Anthony Castrovince / MLB.com

06/01/09 6:52 PM ET

CLEVELAND -- The Indians said an MRI of All-Star center fielder Grady Sizemore's inflamed left elbow revealed no structural damage. But that doesn't mean Sizemore isn't a candidate for surgical intervention.

Sizemore, placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, will rest the injury and receive treatment for the next two weeks. If the inflammation in the elbow doesn't calm down by that point, Sizemore will probably have arthroscopic surgery performed on the elbow, according to head athletic trainer Lonnie Soloff.

The arthroscopy would essentially clean out the inflamed joint.

"In essence," Soloff said, "it would suck out all the inflamed joint lining."

If the procedure is performed, Soloff said Sizemore would miss an additional four to six weeks.

"Probably closer to six," Soloff said.

So that would be two months total spent on the DL for Sizemore, who has never been on the DL previously in his career.

Obviously, it's a scenario the Indians hope to avoid. Thus far, Sizemore's elbow hasn't responded favorably to treatment. He spent two weeks getting treatment on the elbow while spending most of his time at designated hitter and only three games in the field. This past week, his only activity was swinging the bat, as the Indians held him out of pregame shagging duties.

"We hope parlaying that [week off from throwing] with two weeks off [from all baseball activity] will help Grady overcome the symptoms," Soloff said.

Soloff said Sizemore, who is one of eight Tribe players on the DL, injured his elbow on a swing and miss earlier this season, though he did not reveal when that exact instance occurred.

"At the elbow, the thing that causes [inflammation] symptoms is extension," Soloff said. "This is clearly the result of baseball activities."

Soloff said the injury is similar to that suffered by Victor Martinez last year only in that it involves inflammation. But Martinez, who missed two and a half months of action, also had loose bodies and a bone spur that had to be addressed surgically. Sizemore does not have such structural damage, according to the Tribe.

"Grady's condition is more similar to Aaron Laffey's at the end of last season," Soloff said.

Laffey was shut down in the Minors in early September because of elbow inflammation. He rested and rehabbed the injury before beginning throwing activities in October. Laffey avoided surgery, and the Indians hope Sizemore can do the same.

well I want him to get better but surgery. YIKES!

Elbow injury forces Sizemore to DL
All-Star outfielder eligible to return on June 15
By Lisa Winston / MLB.com / Article

The Cleveland Indians placed outfielder Grady Sizemore on the 15-day disabled list Sunday morning, marking the first time in his career the outfielder had gone on the DL. They recalled versatile catcher/infielder/outfielder Chris Gimenez from Triple-A Columbus to fill the roster spot.

Sizemore went on the DL with left elbow synovitis (inflammation of the elbow) and will be eligible to return June 15. He was hitting .223 with 11 doubles, nine homers and 31 RBIs in 49 games but had been plagued by elbow soreness all season.

In his four full seasons prior to 2009, he'd never played fewer than 157 games in a year.

This will mark the Major League debut for Gimenez, a 19th-round pick by the Indians in 2004 out of Nevada. Used primarily a catcher, he has also seen time at third base, first base and the outfield and brought a career .270 average over five seasons into the 2009 campaign.

Gimenez was batting .235 with eight doubles and six homers in 39 games for the Clippers, but was hitting .289 in May.

Grady Sizemore likely back in center field against Reds
by Paul Hoynes/Plain Dealer "Reporter"/Article

KANSAS CITY, Missouri. -- There's a good chance Grady Sizemore will be back in center field Friday when the Indians open a three-game interleague series against the Reds at Great American Ballpark. It's either that or the bench because there is no designated hitter in the National League.

Sizemore has spent the past two games at DH to rest his sore left elbow.

Slumping Sizemore gets some relief
By Sheldon Ocker - Beacon Journal staff writer - Article

KANSAS CITY, MO.: Grady Sizemore isn't the designated-hitter type.

Too restless, too hyperactive is Sizemore, who now is No. 2 in the Indians' batting order.

And for the second consecutive game, Sizemore was the DH Wednesday night against the Kansas City Royals.
